If there is one thing that my clients hear me say time and time again, it’s “Drink Lots of Water”. Yeah, I know we have heard it all before about “Drinking 8 – 10 glasses of water a day”. Some of you shake your head and say “Yeah Yeah.. I will get around to it” but there are some really good reasons I recommend this to all of you. There are many reason’s to drink lots of water and I will cover a couple here and in future posts.
Our body’s are comprised of about 60% water and it’s important to maintain that balance because fluids:
- Maintain your body temperature
- Help with digestion
- Aid in the absorption and transportation of nutrients
In addition to helping with all of that it can also be a huge help when you are trying to lose weight. There is no magic here folks, it’s just science. Water rich foods are typically fruits and vegetables and the higher content of water increases it’s volume and ultimately helps us feel more full. It’s a great way to stay hydrated while watching those calories.
But with all of those ways I mentioned above, the number one reason why I suggest drinking water is because of what it does to your muscles and as a Massage Therapist, that is key. When muscle fiber is starved of water, they become fatigued and that is just another way of saying that water deprived muscles don’t perform as good.
There are many many reasons to remain hydrated and those are just a couple. I will cover others in future posts but for now I recommend that each person drink half their body weight in ounces of water a day. Example: if you are 200lbs. I recommend that you drink 100 ounces and its just that simple.
Have a great day everyone. Until next time.
